Steven Ford: Financial Advisor
Alameda Senior Transitions’ spotlight this month is on our network financial advisor, Steven Ford. Steven grew up in the Bay Area, attended UC Santa Barbara and moved to Alameda a few years ago to take advantage of the great neighborhoods for growing families. With over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, he’s worked for big investment companies and smaller boutique ones. Steven is now a Wealth Advisor, Senior Vice President with Alpha Cubed Investments.

Steven recommends these four things to consider when choosing a financial advisor:
1) What are their fees and fee structure?
2) How will your money be invested and is that process transparent?
3) What is the sell discipline? Buy and hold? Market timing? Asset reallocation on a frequent basis?
4) How frequently will you meet with them?
In volatile markets, Steven typically has monthly check-ins with his clients. In more stable situations, these check-ins are usually quarterly. This high touch approach ensures that his clients are kept up to date with the latest information to help them meet their goals.
Each client’s needs are different but on the menu of options for seniors, typical options include re-allocating investment assets, downsizing to a less expensive home, refinancing an existing home, or identifying other assets that can be liquidated.
